Bitchin in the Kitchen with Lucy Belle #4
Hey Y’all. Today we are going to make CUPCAKES.
It seems like everybody is making cupcakes these days. I have a friend in Chicago that has his own cupcake shop “Tiny Dog Cupcakes”. (Click here to visit their website!) So I thought I would make my own style of cupcakes. Now during the Northern Decadence Vermont Weekend on Sat. Sept. 10th a cupcake competition will be held at the Hilton. Check it out at www.northerndecadence.com . Since we are a sponsor of this event it would not be fair for me to enter a cupcake. Here is my easy recipe for a cupcake from scratch. I start by scratching it right out of a Pillsbury Box. So go ahead and preheat your oven to 350 then you will need;
1 box of Pillsbury Moist Supreme Gold Butter or your favorite cake mix and just follow the directions on the box and then I added
one cup of Nestle mini morsels to the batter.
After following the directions on the box and adding the morsels. Fill the cups 2/3 full of the batter
and let them bake for 20 to 24 minutes or until the toothpick comes out clean.
Now for the frosting I just buy one of your favorite Pillsbury Frosting and add a topping. I tried 3 different toppings. I used sprinkles on some and chopped pecans on some and bacon bites on the Vanilla. The vanilla and bacon tasted like chocolate chip pancakes with bacon. Mmmmm! We have to support the BPPBPPP, (Beaver Pond Pork Bi-Product Processing Plant), as much as we can.
Now while I was baking I had a visit from Alice Levitt, she is the food writer for Seven Days! You will have to check Seven Days Sept. 31st issue to see what she has to say about Bitchin in the Kitchen. I caught her tasting one of my cupcakes when my back was turned.
You can also catch Alice in the production of “Oklahoma” in Stowe, Vt. the next 2 weekends. She liked the cupcakes so much I sent her with a few to take back to the office at Seven Days. I wander if they made it.
